To celebrate the release of the annual Waldos' Special Ale, Lagunitas asked us create a mini-documentary about the true origin story of the term "420." We learned all about the Waldos'-- a group of high school buddies in Northern California who coined the famous stoner term back in 1971.
We flew out to Petaluma, CA, to capture the beauty of the old Waldos' stomping grounds. We interviewed Lagunitas' Ron and Waldos' Steve for the full story of the Waldos and The Waldos' Special Ale.
We utilized graphics from the Waldos' Special Ale Comic Book to create the animations for the piece.
We churned out a 30 second teaser and a 3 minute mini-doc (production to completion) in just two weeks. The final piece released on May 20, 2018, celebrating "420" and treasure hunters everywhere.
